Outreach

The RWCC are active in participating in community outreach projects.

PACHYDERM PROJECT

The first project of the year was our “Pachyderm Project”, where we gathered items for the Healthy Families Domestic Violence Program. Very often when a woman or children need to escape a dangerous residence, they flee unprepared, so we put together bags of items including towels, shampoo, toothbrushes, and much more. Some contained toys for children.

This project has been completed, and former President Sue Forde and former Secretary Lois Perry presented the packages to Rebecca Korby (Becca), Program Manager for Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault at Healthy Families on March 23rd. Chairwoman of the project was BJ Paton, who with the help of Mary Robuck, put the packages together after all the donations were made.

SHOEBOX PROJECT

RWCC Shoebox ProjectOur current project is the “Shoebox” project – where we’re collecting items for our troops. We’re choosing 10+ special soldiers to represent us and hand out the much-needed items to their units. This is a project we’re proud to participate in, to show our troops in a small way that we are thinking of them. A list of suggested items will be available at the next meeting, and also at Republican Headquarters. Come and join us in this effort. Suggested list of items to send to troops overseas

Occasionally, we receive a note back from the troops with items they’d like to receive. Read them here.
